Pilot study on identification of Aspergillus species and its antifungal drug sensitivity testing by disc diffusion method

چکیده
Aspergillus species are frequent causes of invasive fungal infections in immunocompromised patients; they are also associated with allergic bronchopulmonary diseases, mycotic keratitis, otomycosis and nasal sinusitis. At least 30 Aspergillus species have been associated with human diseases, and A. fumigatus remains the most frequent cause of invasive Aspergillosis (IA) but recently in some institutions, A. tereus is becoming more common and it is less susceptible to Amphotericine B. A. nidulans has also been reported to be less susceptible to this drug in comparison with A. fumigatus. A. ustus as a rare cause of invasive disease has been, reported to be resistant to Amphotericine-B while remaining susceptible to itraconazole. A. ustus has also been reported to be less susceptible to voriconazole. Therefore accurate identification of species is International Journal of Current Microbiology and Applied Sciences ISSN: 2319-7706 Volume 3 Number 12 (2014) pp. 555-562 http://www.ijcmas.com

Identification and Antifungal Susceptibility Testing of Candida species isolated from Bronchoalveolar Lavage sampl
The frequency of fungal infections in immunocompromised patients, particularly by Candida species, has increased in recent years. Colonization by Candida species in respiratory tract in susceptible hosts may play an important role to precede disseminated candidiasis. This study was designed to identify Candida species from bronchoalveolar lavage (BAL) samples and determination of antifungal sus...
متن کاملSynthesis and Evaluation of Lipid-based Nanoparticle Containing Ginger Extract against Aspergillus Species
Introduction: Loading the active ingredients of medicinal plants in lipid nanoparticles reduces the reaction of the active substance with the surrounding environment, such as water and oxygen, and reduces the intensity of transmission or evaporation to the external environment. In this study, intended to enhance efficacy of ginger extract, encapsulation in nanoliponiosome synthesized by thin-fi...
متن کاملAntifungal Effects of Thyme, Agastache and Satureja Essential Oils on Aspergillus fumigatus, Aspergillus flavus and Fusarium solani
Growth inhibition of Aspergillus fumigatus,Aspergillus flavus and Fusarum solani exposed to the essential oils including Thyme, Agastache and Satureja were studied. Disc Diffusion Method was used to evaluate the fungal growth inhibitory effects of the essential oils. Minimal inhibitory concentration (MIC) and minimal fungicidal concentration (MFC) of the oils were determined and compared with ...
متن کاملIn vitro susceptibility-testing in Aspergillus species.
Aspergillus species are the most common causes of invasive mould infections in immunocompromised patients. The introduction of new antifungal agents and recent reports of resistance emerging during treatment of Aspergillus infections have highlighted the need for in vitro susceptibility-testing. Various testing procedures have been proposed, including macrodilution and microdilution, agar diffu...
متن کاملComparison of Broth Dilution and Disc Diffusion Method for the Antifungal Susceptibility Testing of Aspergillus flavus
With the discovery of newer antifungal agents, emergence of resistance among Aspergillus, is a major problem. In the present study, 25 different clinical isolates of Aspergillus flavus were screened for their susceptibility against five common antifungal agents by broth dilution and disc diffusion method with the aim to evaluate both the methods for their suitability to adapt in clinical labora...
